11am-1:15pm: Beacon of Joy: Watercolour Workshop with Tetiana Milshyna.
This two-hour workshop celebrates World Mental Health Day, 10 October, by inviting participants to spend a creative morning in the TRISKEL SAMPLE Project Space from 11am-1:15pm.
The workshop will be offered by Tetiana Milshyna, professional watercolourist and participant in Sample-Studios Studios of Sanctuary Programme. Tetiana will guide participants through painting the sunny Irish landscape using a limited palette. To begin with, Tetiana will show the basic methods of working with watercolour including how to apply the paint on the paper and how to mix suitable colours using limited palette. Then, using these methods, she will create a small watercolour landscape of a lighthouse within coastal surroundings, based on her own photograph. Finally, all participants will be invited to paint their own piece. If needed, Tetiana will provide her guidance during the process. Every participant will have a chance to create their own painting ready for framing to take home.
The workshop is suitable for adults of all levels and abilities. All materials are provided though participants also are free to bring their own if they wish.
Tetiana Milshyna is a Cork-based watercolour artist. She has exhibited her works extensively, particularly in Munster, through different galleries, venues and art festivals. She was awarded Agility Award 2023 for the body of watercolours ‘Between Sea and Light: Celebrating Irish Lighthouses’ and has recently exhibited this project solo in Cnoc Bui Art Centre in Union Hall, West Cork.
This event and the Studios of Sanctuary programme are supported by Rethink Ireland Impact for Munster Fund.

6pm-8pm: Samhain Zine Club – Workshop by Cork Zine Fest
Cork Zine Fest will host a special spooky Samhain Zine Club in the TRISKEL SAMPLE Project Space on 10 October, 6pm-8pm. Whether new to zines or a zine connoisseur, you will have time to explore and play with the form during this two-hour workshop. We will look at a feast of ghoulish zines from the zine library and learn a new folding technique to make your own creepy creation.
Cork Zine Fest was established in 2018 as an annual celebration of the power of zines. Every year, the Festival brings together an exciting programme of artists, stalls, workshops, and more.
