Embroidery is the medium I use to translate my ideas; stitch is my brushstroke, a way of painting with thread to create intricate images on fabric. I create hand-stitched detailed embroideries which embody the beauty and fragility of the natural world. I find the repetitive motion of stitching to be meditative and therapeutic, allowing an escape from the digitally saturated world that surrounds me. Each embroidery created requires the world’s most valued commodity which is time; embroidery is a slow process which requires one to be fully present in both body and mind. Human anatomy and nature are themes that can be seen across my work. I am inspired by my own connection with nature and the solace that I find in my daily woodland walks. My work aims to highlight the integral role of nature, not merely as a setting for our lives but as a vital component in our pursuit of wellness and contentment.
