About the member

I am an emerging visual artist based in East Cork. Working primarily with pencil, ink, and watercolour, my practice embraces spontaneity, allowing me to respond intuitively to my subject matter and translate shifting thoughts and emotions directly onto paper.

My artistic path began with studies in Creative Textiles in 2008, which ignited my love of process, experimentation and play. This foundation nurtured my passion for colour, pattern and form, elements that continue to shape my work today. My journey with rich acrylic ink began in 2019, during my studies in Illustration, where I discovered their ability to capture an unfiltered directness that instantly resonated with me.

Since 2022, I have been the coordinator of the Mór Artists Collective, a multidisciplinary group of visual, literary and performing artists. The Collective’s encouragement and activities have been pivotal in supporting my journey into a dedicated creative practice, one that had been building in the wings for many years.

My practice is vibrant, colour-driven and loose, with a focus on exploring the female form and the limitations (both real and perceived) that are imposed upon it.

I am a member of Visual Artists Ireland and Mór Artists Collective.

Victoria
Tammadge

My work challenges the process of aging and loss of self that comes to us all.

Working in pencil, ink, and watercolour offers a spontaneity to the subject matter that allows me to react to my thoughts and feelings as I paint. By investigating parts of me that are degenerating with time and gravity, and how that impacts my identity, I create hybrid creatures that represent the change in the female form as women age.

These hybrid creatures are abnormal, yet comforting to me as I reflect on the crumbling of the feminine beauty archetype. I watch myself and others close to me as they age and become invisible, grappling with loss of youth and ailing bodies.

I try to face this discomfort head on through my work, and perhaps provide a space for other people to experience their losses.

These creatures become goddesses, powerful symbols of the attributes that make us strong at any age.
