Muscle memory is a memory that lives deep within us all. The purpose of this workshop is to further explore memory through performance by developing a narrative using gesture and voice. Learning to draw from prompts in the form of visual mixed media work and/or written poetry, participants will develop techniques of connecting the body and mind and to make physical expression in a performance (spoken word or abstract movement).
Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat.
In this workshop, attendees will:
- Learn basic vocal and body exercises
- Develop physical language to express ideas drawn from visual and verbal prompts
- Explore emotions from past experiences and memories that will deepen the narrative towards creating a performance
- Develop a short performance sequence
- Participant performance (optional) and documentation filming (also optional)
