Cork based, Sample-Studio artist Tommy Feehan and Wicklow based artist Louisa Mahony present new work that considers the park as a stage in which everyday happenings and interactions can occur at a remove from their urban context.

Brian Leach and Jesse Hallaway present a new sound performance that will debut at the Lord Mayors Pavilion on September 14th 2019 at 3pm

The park is an area for respite from the sound of the city, but is it really all that quiet? Leach and Hallaway are sonifying the park! The result is poetry and music that resonates out of speakers and acoustic instruments, allowing humans to access the park’s own ‘Secret Soup’.

Leach and Hallaway’s previous piece, “The Uncooperative Collaborator – A sound performance searching for intelligence in domestic plants and analogue electronics”, was performed in Ireland and the UK. Their current project is exploring the relationship between natural and urban environments by giving a voice to a public green space.

A sound artist, musician, and instrument maker, Leach draws on his Masters in Music Technology to create sound pieces inspired by ancient folk music and analogue electronics. Vintage and recycled equipment is preferred, putting an emphasis on sustainability. The goal is always to show the audience something interesting.

A graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design, Hallaway has held a residency in the National Sculpture Factory and is currently residing in the GuestHouse Project, Cork. Hallaway also works in Cork Community Art Link as a maker.
