Cork/ San Francisco Peer In Programme: Archiving and Publishing Your Work

September 11 - September 11, 2022
8-9:30pm GMT
Funded By
This workshop covers the basics of archiving artistic works. So much communication between artist and audience happens online through platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Artists might create and distribute work through these services without considering the limitations and risks associated with relying on them to store their digital files.
This workshop will provide a brief overview of the main goals and considerations for artists in archiving content. We will talk about getting started with archiving your art, what specialised services are available, and how to design projects with archivability in mind. With a focus on digital publishing, we will go through a range of examples to empower artists to preserve their work.

About the Facilitator: Michael Kurzmeier
Michael Kurzmeier is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the C21 Editions project at UCC. Michael is a chair of the research methods work group at the Aarhus-led Web ARChive studies network  researching web domains and events as well as one of the founders of the Engaging with Web Archives conference, Ireland’s first dedicated web archiving conference.

This workshop is delivered as part of the Cork/San Fran Peer In Programme, a transatlantic professional development programme delivered in partnership with San Francisco Artist Studios and supported by Cork City Council Twinning Cities Grant. Please note this workshop is for members of Sample-Studios only. Click here to find out more about our membership options for professional visual artists.
