Three public installations spread across cork city that playfully discuss the humor within misunderstandings and the myriad ways in which communication keeps us connected.
Take a walk through the streets of Cork and you may find the personal messages placed throughout the city by artist, Riki Matsuda.
Nestled amongst the countless posters, site notices, and traffic signs, are the private let-ters and intimate thoughts she’s shared with anyone willing to find them.
Riki Matsuda is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cork and the 2024 recipient of the Sample-Studios + Cork Midsummer Festival Emerging Artist Award. Her practice focuses on the limitations of language through experimental text and physical forms. In these new installations, pieces about vulnerability and complex feelings, interact with the public in unexpected locations.
