This workshop is FREE to attend. There are 8 places available so to book your place or for any queries, please contact Elize de Beer at elizedb@yahoo.com.
Elize de Beer will host a day’s arts publication workshop as part of the Sample-Studios Studios of Sanctuary programme. The workshop includes an open discussion session exploring and unpacking the power that zines and artist publications have and how they can fit within a wider artistic practice, particularly looking at publication as practice. In the workshop, participants work alongside Elize to create their own zines/artists’ books to create a small edition using the library facilities and equipment Elize will supply. Following the workshop, Elize will create a publication that documents the findings and outcomes of the workshop which will be launched in December 2024. Each participant will receive a copy of the publication.
All materials will be provided and participants are welcome to bring any extra materials they with to use. The workshop will be held in Cork City Library from 11am-4pm, with a break during the day. The ideal participant is someone with an interest and/or experience in art publications, artist books and zines.
