Screenings in Sample: ‘/f/XILE – A Body Between Shores’ and ‘A Ladder on the Edge of Living’ by Artem Trofimenko

Artem Trofimenko will present two short films which were developed on residency in Pedvāle Art Park Latvia, supported by Sample-Studios’ Studios of Sanctuary programme, /f/XILE – a body between shores and A Ladder on the Edge of Living.

Sitting between diary, ritual, and cinematic apparition, the works trace how personal and collective histories surface through material processes. Emerging from a site-responsive exploration at Pedvāle Art Park, Latvia, A Ladder on the Edge of Living is shaped by folk memory, moving between the haunted logic of Viy and the drifting consciousness of Solaris. /f/XILE is a somatic exploration of the SIRIUS building and its surrounding waters. A body moves along a narrow threshold between land and tide; filmed on expired stock, image and sound fracture time. The work treats exile as a condition of encounter, produced through physical tension.
