A solo exhibition by Myfanwy Frost-Jones, inaugural recipient of the Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award
A Partnership Award supporting Early Career Stage Film Artists by the National Sculpture Factory, Cork International Film Festival and Sample-Studios, Cork.
Myfanwy Frost-Jones has created a film installation for the 2023 Cork International Film Festival, ‘Another Country’, working with the wealth of archival cinefilm, photographs, slides and correspondence left by her grandparents from their years in Uganda as a way to rethink the past in the present. ‘Complicated Legacies’ is a new video piece, weaving together elements of the artists personal family history, with unique archival footage from 1930s Uganda, examining the processes of remembering, memorialising and forgetting on both a personal and a more global scale, investigating how histories can be constructed, reconstructed, and repaired whilst questioning what legacies might now be left for future generations.
Event: ‘Histories in Progress ‘: Artist Myfanwy Frost-Jones In Conversation with artist and researcher Andrea Stultiens
