PhotoGo is a community photography competition and exhibition presented by Sample-Studios in partnership with Gurranabraher Credit Union and Cork City Council Commemoration Fund. PhotoGo competition launched on Culture Night, Friday 18th of September and invited members of the public to take photographs which celebrate Cork City’s Northside communities and the theme of ‘legacy’, to mark this important centenary year of the Burning of Cork in 1920. Over 60 entries were received, as well as over 50 entries by local Transition Year students, who participated in a series of free schools photography workshops with artist and Sample-Studios member Kate McElroy.
If you live within 5km of Fitzgerald’s Park, we invite you to enjoy this selected presentation of PhotoGo entries in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion. Photographs are presented in the windows, as our exhibition space remains closed to visitors. Whether you’re in the Park to exercise, to walk the dog, meet up with your support bubble or just to get some fresh air within 5km of your home, we invite you to enjoy a moment of reflection and celebration of community, as presented in PhotoGo. When viewing the photographs, please ensure you do so safely and maintain 2m distance from other park users.
