Sample-Studios in partnership with MTU Crawford’s Department of Arts in Health and Education present: Sailing the Rip Tide
Celebrating the 30th Annual Art Therapy Summer School, returning after a COVID hiatus of two years, Sample-Studios in partnership with MTU Crawford’s Department of Arts in Health and Education, presents an exhibition of work by the Lecturers and Workshop Facilitators of the Art Therapy Summer School. Exhibiting artists include seasoned Art Therapists who reach right back into the history of Art Therapy here, in Europe and in the United States, as well as ‘home-grown’ Art Therapists. Their work will explore their own relationship with artmaking and Art Therapy and the trajectory of the profession itself. The exhibition will reflect how all have been impacted and responded to the experience of the pandemic: how they have grown, facilitated growth and created meaning in relation to this experience.
This partnership exhibition, which will explore visual arts practice through an arts therapeutic lens, is a new iteration of a long established and successful partnership between Sample-Studios and MTU Crawford College of Art and Design. The Art Therapy Summer School facilitates personal and professional growth through artmaking and reflection in a therapeutic environment, generating insight and empowerment. It scaffolds this powerful process conceptually with a series of lectures. They (the organisers) believe that art is the alchemical vessel at the heart of the therapeutic relationship and aim to honour this belief through the collaboration – exploring and celebrating the role of the Artist and Art Therapist in a time when the need for individual, collective and global healing is palpable, and the demand for Art Therapy has never been greater.
Additionally, Sample-Studios is delighted to present a pop up exhibition of watercolours by Ukrainian artist, Tetiana Milshyna.
Tetiana fled her home in Ukraine, bringing with her over 200 of her watercolours and has recently come to live in Cork City.
Sample-Studios is honoured to present a selection of her work this July in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion.
