Soft Shield People Carry Me On, Bryony Hussey’s first solo exhibition, opens at the Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, Cork, from 5 December 2026 to 16 January 2027. Marking twenty years since she left Ireland, the exhibition considers what it means to leave, return and belong to an island, through moving image, clay, photography, poetry and outmoded technologies.

Based in Connemara Galway, Bryony is a multidisciplinary and socially engaged artist exploring place, belonging and the histories we carry with us. Bryony’s practice revolves around walking, collecting and making. Beginning with these processes, she explores the translations of landscape, memory and movement.
