Background:
Sample-Studios is one of Ireland’s largest artist studios. At Sample-Studios, we launch, support, and sustain creative careers and practices in Cork. We provide affordable and quality studios for over 150 artists and arts practitioners in our premises in Churchfield and present an ambitious programme of public exhibitions and events in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, Fitzgerald’s Park, and TRISKEL SAMPLE Project Space in partnership with Triskel Arts Centre.
After 5 years of delivering a diverse range of exhibitions by local, national, and international artists in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, we now wish to expand our opening hours so that Corkonians and visitors alike can enjoy this gallery space. We are now seeking a Gallery Assistant on a 6-month fixed term contract for one day per week (5.5 hours) on Sundays from April to September inclusive.

Key Responsibilities:
The Gallery Assistant will
- invigilate our exhibitions and events programme in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion on Sundays.
- ensure visitors have a friendly and warm greeting,
- ensure visitors are supplied with any information they may require
- Ensure the opening/closure procedure is carried out
- Ensure the space is clean and presentable at all times
- Carry out some administrative tasks associated with the running of the gallery space.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- A relevant third level qualification
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills
- Experience in a public-facing role, ideally within the arts sector.
- You should be located within easy access of Cork City.
Terms
- 1 day (5.5 hours) per week based in The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, Fitzgerald’s Park.
- Working day will typically be Sunday.
- Rate of pay is €14 per hour.
- The contract will be for 6 months, April to September 2025 inclusive
- The Gallery Assistant will report to the Artistic Director and work alongside the Facilities Coordinator and Programme Coordinator.
