About the member

Catarina Araújo is a Portuguese socially engaged visual artist based in Cork City since 2017. She completed her BA in Visual Arts – Multimedia at Évora University, Portugal, in 2016. She graduated with an MA in Art and Process from Crawford College of Art and Design, MTU, in 2021, securing a Postgraduate Residency Award from Sample-Studios. In 2021, she was awarded the Studios of Sanctuary residency award with Sample-Studios, supported by Cork Arts Fund at the Community Foundation for Ireland. She is part of the BEAG team at Graffiti Theatre. She has exhibited her work in Portugal and Ireland.

I am interested in engaging collaboratively with communities through art-led and people-centred methods to explore and create spaces that promote physical and mental well-being. Art and cultural practices can promote and sustain progressive change and social influence on all human beings, being a central tool that allows an exploration of new methods of addressing and providing moments of well-being, creating a more sustainable way of living.
