About the member

Through his work as an educator, Chris has provided learning experiences for a wide range of participants in both traditional and digital photography as well as many other art forms and media. He has assisted and facilitated workshops in The Ark Dublin, at The Red Stables St. Anne’s Park and with CoAction West Cork. Chris has
curated exhibitions of work by young, emerging and established artists at The Mills Centre, London and The Highgate Festival 2018. He was an invited curatorial panel member for Switch Video Art Project 2010 and 2012. Chris has recently been
appointed to Helium Arts’ artists panel.

Education

Chris was awarded a BA Fine Art from Dublin Institute of Technology (now TUD) in 2006 and is currently enrolled on the MA Photography at Falmouth University.

Exhibitions

Chris has exhibited work extensively in Ireland, the UK and internationally, including; Institute of Photography Penryn, GoMA Glasgow, Fringe Arts Bath, the LA Centre for Digital Arts, Pallas Contemporary Projects, The Library Project and the Royal Hibernian Academy. His work was recently exhibited in the group show Displacement and Belonging – Home at Rua Red, Dublin and in early 2023 his photographic series House Rules
was published by PhotoIreland as a TLP Edition.

Chris
Finnegan

Chris Finnegan is a visual artist and educator from Cork who works primarily through photography. His work explores common phenomena and everyday occurrences, with the physical qualities of mundane objects and events often exploited sculpturally and presented with a pseudo-scientific rigour. Recently moving back to Ireland after over a decade in the UK, his current practice centres on the home; critically interrogating ideas of home-making, childhood and the domestic sublime. He regularly collaborates with his young sons.
