About the member

Etaoin studied Visual Art on Sherkin Island, specialising in video and art installation, where she received a first class honours degree from TU Dublin. Her final piece was selected to exhibit in Damer House Gallery. since then Etaoin has expanded her technical knowledge in Film and T.V. production at St John’s College Cork.

Etaoin runs community projects in Mayfield alongside developing her own art practice. The two work in tandem, always feeling inspired and learning from the people around her.

Etaoin
Melville

My work seeks to reflect the strengths and fragility of life, using colour as abstract emotional expression. Working in a multidisciplinary fashion, I use the material that best reflects my current theme.

Inspired by the relationships between us in modern society and ancient culture, in our lives and the land. Creating art in a state of play and improvisation to bring a spontaneity and lightness to the work.

Over the last year I have been collaborating with Linda Cullen (aerial artist) on a project called Backbone. The theme is motherhood and the value we hold individually and as a society for this role. In March 2022 we presented a work in progress for ‘Backbone’,  followed by an exhibition of work on the same theme in July 2022. I have recently been awarded the Arts Council of Ireland Agility award to carry on with this body of work. I am honoured to have received financial support to be mentored by renowned artist Aideen Barry.
