As a contemporary multi-disciplinary artist, I explore moments in timelessness as nature and human existence go through endless cycles of life. The line between creation and destruction is delicate. The struggle between connections and disconnections is infinite.

My work is a depiction of the vulnerability towards attachment and separation within family, relationships, connection with nature and with life itself. My processes involve using materials including paper, silk, porcelain, ink, threads and human hair, in order to reflect that reminiscence of life. The unsettling relationship between protection and vulnerability becomes the core concept of my work. Family connections are naturally my first encounter of identity and influences in life. As an artist born in Hong Kong, raised and living in Ireland, topics like cultural identity and sense of belonging have always been present in my life. As I became a mother, those ideas have evolved into reflections of protection and transformation of a family lineage. The vision of protecting and nurturing marks the beginning of life and struggle. Just as seeds in nature, the transition and shifts happen at a certain timeline and in specific conditions. The desire to become sovereign but still longing to connect with a tradition is perpetual. The pull of togetherness and separation is sensitive yet magnetic.

By incorporating natural materials into porcelain, the clay instantly becomes more fragile and vulnerable. The rawness of clay highlights the texture and solidity of the form. The fragility and softness of silk and human hair reflect the delicacy and details of being. The versatility of paper echoes the malleable relationships we have with the world around us. The experience of creating is a mirror of that inner vulnerability and celebration of hope. My body of work is reflective, sensitive, tactile that encompasses paper sculptures, textile installations, clay sculptures and photography.
