Leah Lynch is a contemporary mixed media artist, who lives and works in Cork City. Leah was born in Cork in 1998 and grew up In Killarney, Co. Kerry, moving to Cork in 2015 to undergo her studies in art. Leah spent a year studying Art, Craft and Design in St. Johns Central College, Cork, then undertook an undergraduate degree in Fine Art, 2017-2021.
Leah primarily works in the mediums of paint and sculpture. Her work has been heavily inspired by the domestic landscape and our personal relationship with our intimate spaces. Bright, bold colours are a key aspect of her work. The artist has said that “bright colours excite me, when visiting galleries, I am always drawn to the pieces which have the loudest colours”.
Leah has recently exhibited her work in her degree show “Subject to Change” which ran for four days from June 12th until 15th. For the exhibition, Leah created an installation piece comprising of 12 paintings and various cardboard sculptures which related to the home, which gave the sense of walking into a fantastical, eclectic dining room. Leah is the recipient of the Cork County Council Graduate Award 2021.
