I am a painter who creates semi abstract images to embody my emotional and mental work. My work started from ‘‘storyteller’’ images to images that help me to understand unresolved experiences; they have slowly evolved to embody my present. I use the act of making art as one more tool to learn and express the ‘‘uncomfortable’’ side of my life.
I have primarily used acrylic paint on paper or canvas and progressively introduced mixed media mediums. The fast drying quality of acrylic paint, narrows my focus to what’s important for me to express in the artwork. The nature of mixed media (charcoal, pencil, pastel, oil bars…) increases the range of possibilities.
What I seek for when creating an artwork is to use the right art supply to best help me express myself; I look for feelings that show flow and honest work. I believe in my ability to express where the amount of personal work translates into the decisions that best reflect what I need. The themes I have been exploring are awareness and acceptance of emotions, experiences with toxic people, and self-growth – basically dealing with difficult social interactions and my reactions to them.
I consider my paintings quite complex and heavy in content, intense. A completed artwork could be defined as well as a personal milestone in the shape of a painting. Learning self-expression is what drives my work.
In my art, I finally talk.
