Neo Florence Gilson is from Kimberley, South Africa and currently living in Ireland. She is a poet, singer, writer, storyteller and motivational speaker. She is one of four artists in residence on the Radical Institute at Studios of Sanctuary residency programme in Sample-Studios, supported by the Cork Arts Fund at Community Foundation for Ireland.
Neo’s poems have appeared online, on radio, DSAC Writers festival, Window to my World: Poetry, Resistance and Justice curated for World Poetry Day, Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities, featured on Fishamble New Play Company’s Writing for Performance workshops and Outlandish Theatre production Love and Charity.
Neo released a gospel audio CD titled “Behind The Veil ” in May 2013. She sang a cover of the legendary Miriam Makeba for Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconcilitation-Entanglements, celebrating Africa Day 2021 in Dublin. Neo participated in the Bodies and Ruins Symposium as part of Outlandish Theatre at Smock Alley Theatre. She has performed on various platforms in South Africa, UK, and Ireland.
