About the member

Siobhan returned to Cobh, Co. Cork in 2020 after 20 years living in Cloughjordan Co. Tipperary. She spent six years in Brussels, Belgium which had a huge influence on her artistic practice.

Siobhan worked as a freelance photographer for 12 years and returned to complete her BA in Fine Art in 2018 receiving a distinction. In 2020 she completed her Master of Education (Hons) in art and Design with Digital Media where she received the LIT Kierán Meagher Artist Teacher Award for achievement.

Siobhan
Leonard

I work primarily with acrylic on canvas and board, adding on and washing off of media. My work looks to the hedgerows and trees, the interwoven pattern of roots, branches, weeds and fungal networks provide a foundation to explore lyrical motifs and fluidity of line creating visceral and emotive responses. I ebb and flow between an expressionist and abstracted response to a more figurative digging into the canvas to reveal  the loose memory of what is lost or that what is taken for granted.
