Sample-Studios are pleased to announce the appointment of Deirdre Corcoran, Anne Brennan, and Seamus Coghlan to their Board of Directors. Sample-Studios is one of Ireland’s largest artist studios, providing workspace, training, mentorship, exhibition, and employment opportunities to over 150 artists in Cork. In addition to the studios in Churchfield, Sample-Studios run two City Centre public galleries, The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion in Fitzgerald’s Park and the TRISKEL SAMPLE Project Space in Triskel Arts Centre which engage Corkonians and visitors alike. Our impact in the community is felt through our award-winning education and outreach programmes in schools and communities across Cork city, engaging over 27,000 annually, including 1,000 school children.
Aoibhie McCarthy, Artistic Director of Sample-Studios, highlights the important role these new Board members will play: “We are excited by the diversity of expertise that Seamus, Deirdre, and Anne will bring to our strategic development and governance as we seek to further secure and develop our impact for artists, for Cork, and on the arts sector locally and nationally.”
Anne Brennan is Head of Function with the Central Bank of Ireland and brings over 20 years’ experience as a solicitor in the private and public sector. She states, “it is a privilege to share my expertise with such a dynamic, impressive team at Sample-Studios and be a part of their mission to support creative careers and Cork’s cultural vibrancy.”
Deirdre Corcoran, Founder and Artistic Director of Chapter Design, remarks, “coming from a background in leveraging design and creativity for strategic purposes, I am thrilled to be part of the Sample-Studios Board and to join such a dynamic team. The vision, cohesion, and potential of this organisation are truly impressive, and I look forward to contributing to its continued success.”
Seamus Coghlan, former Head of Economic Development in Cork City Council, states, “I am delighted to join the Board of Sample-Studios having engaged with them and the creative sector prior to my retirement from Cork City Council. They are a professional and ambitious not-for-profit organisation and I now wish to support them in delivering on their key strategic goals over the next few years which should have a significant impact for the sector.”
