About the Facilitators:
Michele Horrigan is an Irish artist and curator. Her installation, photographic and video artworks revolves around the legacies and potentials of environment and site, in an investigative manner to research and represent hidden or overlooked narratives, creating new forms of knowledge in the process. She studied art at the University of Ulster, Belfast and the Städelschule, Frankfurt. Recent 2020 exhibitions were presented at EVA International, – Ireland’s Biennale of Contemporary Art,
Limerick; Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, Santa Cruz, and Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin.
Since 2006 she is founder and director of Askeaton Contemporary Arts, facilitating artist residencies, exhibitions and publication production in rural southwest Ireland with over one hundred realised projects, often with a particular interest in site-specific and socially-engaged practices. In addition, Horrigan has curated exhibitions at VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Carlow; Kunstvlaai Biennale for Experimental Art, Amsterdam; Catalyst Arts, Belfast, amongst others. Since 2014, she is editor and publisher of A.C.A. PUBLIC, a publication venture exploring the many meanings and relationships between art and the public realm. In addition, her writing, essays and articles have been commissioned for, among others, Mousse Publishing and Bomb Magazine. She currently resides in Limerick.

Sean Lynch (b. 1978, Kerry, Ireland) is an artist living in Dublin. He was educated at the Stadelschule in Frankfurt. Alongside representing Ireland at the Venice Biennale in 2015, recent solo exhibitions include Henry Moore Institute, Leeds (2019), Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (2017), Charles H. Scott Gallery, Vancouver (2016), Rose Art Museum, Boston (2016), Modern Art Oxford (2014), Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane (2013). In 2019 he is Visiting Professor of Sculpture at Carnegie Mellon School of Art, Pittsburgh. He works alongside Michele Horrigan at Askeaton Contemporary Arts, enabling over a hundred artist residencies, site-specific projects and publications to be made in southwest Ireland since 2006.
